My Sister's Place

Funding streams are important to any group.  Getting funds to support the work we do often takes a ton of money.  We work within the confines of the donations that we get.  When we receive tangible donations like food, clothes and household items, we send them back out into the community to families that need it.  We often help those who need bus fare, gas cards, grocery cards.

We believe in working for the funds we get.  One of the ways we do this is by running a Farmers Market.  We started a market in May of 2017 in the Town of Speedway.  We were located in the parking lot of Bubba's on Main Street and we struggled to bring in vendors.  We eventually had 4 vendors each week until October of 2017  We lost our spot at the end of the season when the Town bought the space and turned it into a parking lot.

In 2018, we had found a spot in the parking lot of Daredevil Brewing Company which is on Main Street and we had grown to 10 vendors!  We were very excited, and for 2 months struggled along.  Many of the vendors said their numbers were lower each subsequent week.  We added more marketing to spread the word & our signage disappeared the first night.  Not sure who stole it but 6 signs disappeared. We added helium balloons on the gate by Main St.  We hired people to "fly signs" at the end of Main Street both ways.  Nothing changed. So we found a new location.

On July 5th  2018, we will be set up in the parking lot of St. Andrews Luthern Church located 6118 Crawfordsville Rd.  We need more visibility! Plus we have even more vendors! And we will be accepting SNAP which will help more people in the community. For us, its important to SERVE!!  And to "Serve Everyone!"
