Growing Pains

GROWING PAINS-- it happens and sometimes it can be the best of things--for My Sister's Place we are looking at the community and how we can be of help to all people living in it--and so, to that end, we have joined the LAFAYETTE SQUARE AREA COALITION and we will be attending some of those meetings to see where the gaps in services are. We are also hoping that we will be able to move our current operations to a larger area for the recycling/jobs component of our mission.

New Year with New Plans

Innovate Indy Summit-- we have met 3 times and will be meeting weekly-- we want to create jobs through recycling- add an educational component - central location for homeowners, businesses, artists to be able to utilize and upcycle materials.  This is an awesome experience for all involved.  Our goal is to create something that we all can benefit from, plus teach our children that are coming up in today's world about recycling.  My goal, as always, will be to provide jobs and continue to help women succeed in whatever they want to do.

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Harvest Day for all!

A wonderful day was had by all at the holiday open house at AROMAS FROM HEAVEN--beautiful candles, warmers, jewelry, purses all on sale at 15% off--we had many winners for the top bids in the auction for MY SISTER'S PLACE. All proceeds from the auction to help fund the programs at MSP, including our new fabric and textile recycling program to help disadvantaged women to become employed.

Our new logo- what it means

We changed our logo to more completely represent who we are and what we are doing.  Our first logo was a heart with a home inside of it and angels wings on top to represent the love we have for the work we are doing, and at that time we were providers of a transitional house-- but we changed our focus in the past year, as we saw a greater need for women to become financially independent.

Indy Give Camp

If you are reading this, and you have been to our website before, you can see the massive changes to our site. These changes are due to the tremendous amount of work put in by a team of five developers and a few others at Indy GiveCamp. Over just one weekend, this team put in over a 100 hours. But, more than the hours, they put in years of experence. Without their help and knowledge, My Sister's Place could never have such a cool web site.Indy GiveCamp assembles teams of progammers for just a weekend to code web sites for charity organizations like ours.
